The Lord of the Rings- The Rings of Power Season 2 : Series Review

The Rings of Power Season 2 : Series Review

The Rings of Power kicked off its second season with a bang, diving even deeper into the brewing war between light and dark. Season 1 had already set the tone, and now Season 2 is cranking up the tension, action, and intrigue. From the opening episode, it's clear we’re in for an epic journey through Middle-earth.

The Lord of the Rings- The Rings of Power Season 2 : Series Review

We start right where we left off—Sauron (Charlie Vickers) continuing his deception by taking the form of Halbrand after the orcs seemingly kill his former self. The show doesn’t waste any time jumping into action, with a high-energy chase scene featuring Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) and Elrond (Robert Aramayo) as they hunt down the three Rings of Power. Elrond believes the rings are corrupted, while Galadriel is desperate to use them to save the elves from extinction. The stakes have never been higher!

Once again, the acting is top-notch. The cast dives deep into their characters, and the chemistry between them adds to the intensity of the story. Season 2 has continued to build on the brewing conflict from Season 1, especially between the forces of light and dark. Adar (Joseph Mawle), the Uruk leader, returns with big plans for the orcs, who already secured Mordor after that epic battle with the Númenóreans last season. His ambition to expand their power hints at even bigger confrontations on the horizon.

On the other hand, the Harfoots’ storyline is still unfolding at a slower pace. Nori (Markella Kavenagh) and the mysterious stranger (Daniel Weyman) are back, with the stranger now being pursued by a group of eerie individuals who believe he’s Sauron. Turns out, he’s actually one of the Istari—wizards sent to Middle-earth to help. His self-discovery journey with Nori by his side adds a softer, more magical element to the season, though it's definitely moving at a more leisurely pace compared to the other plotlines.

Sauron’s manipulation continues as he wanders into Celebrimbor’s (Charles Edwards) city, where he convinces the elven smith to create more rings—this time for dwarves and men. It’s a tense moment as we watch Sauron cleverly deceive Celebrimbor by pretending he was sent by the Valar to assist him. Knowing the future corruption these rings will bring makes it all the more chilling.

Meanwhile, the dwarves are facing their own struggles in Khazad-dûm. King Durin III (Peter Mullan) and Prince Durin IV (Owain Arthur) find themselves clashing over whether Mithril should leave the mountain, with the prince’s loyalty to Elrond being tested. Their relationship adds emotional weight to the story, showing that even in times of war, personal conflicts can shape the fate of nations.

The season so far has delivered amazing performances, spectacular visual effects, and that rich, immersive world-building we’ve come to expect. The show has continued to impress by balancing multiple storylines without losing focus. Even though some parts, like the Harfoots’ journey, move a bit slower, they provide contrast to the more intense and action-packed moments, keeping viewers invested.

The last episode of Season 2, Episode 7, has easily been the best one in the series so far. Unlike the rest of the season, which juggles multiple storylines, this episode focuses solely on what’s happening in Eregion—and it’s intense!

The orcs have captured Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) and are trying to negotiate with the elves as they prepare for an upcoming battle. Meanwhile, Celebrimbor (Charles Edwards) is under Sauron’s influence and completely unaware that his city is being attacked by the orcs. He finally realizes something’s wrong when he cracks the clues: a mouse sneaking through the room, a missing jewel in Fëanor’s hammer, and candles that haven’t burned down after being lit all day. It's a pretty cool moment when he puts it all together.

We’re treated to an epic battle between the elves and the orcs, with Elrond (Robert Aramayo) leading the charge to defend Eregion. He’s doing everything he can to hold the city until Durin (Owain Arthur) shows up with reinforcements. The tension is real as elves fall in battle, and Elrond anxiously waits for his friend. But Prince Durin is facing a huge dilemma—should he protect Khazad-dûm from his father, who’s wearing a corrupted ring of power, or help his best friend in the fight?

The Rings of Power episode 7-

Was packed with everything that kept viewers on the edge of their seats. The action, suspense, and emotional stakes were at an all-time high, making it a standout moment in the series.

As we gear up for the Season 2 finale, we’re left wondering: Will Sauron succeed in forging the nine rings for men? Will the elves lose the war to the orcs, causing Eregion to fall? So many questions are hanging in the balance, and I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds!
